MLB
Futures Update - World Series and Pennant
The
MLB season is coming to an end with most teams around 150 games into their 162
game schedule. This is the time of the season when I like to really dig into
the numbers and find some great value in MLB futures. Let’s look at what’s up
in the Pennant races and who the favorites are to win the World Series.
American
League Pennant
The
Cleveland Indians have already wrapped up the AL Central, up 14.5 games on the
Twins in September. With the sketchy move getting Josh Donaldson at the
deadline, some feel this move could be the “Justin Verlander move” the Astros
made helping them win their first World Series.

The
Red Sox have ran away with the AL East all season, and are now 11.5 games up on
the Yankees. The Yankees are having a great season in their own right, and are
the top Wild Card team at the moment. I have to give honorable mention to the
Tampa Bay Rays, who are 83-66, including a great 48-26 record at the Trop. The
big boys in the division get all the play, but do not sleep on these Rays in
the coming years. They have a great young scrappy team that is managed by a
very underrated Kevin Cash. Although it may be too little too late, the Rays
are third in the Wild Card race, at 6.5 back.

The
Astros are 4 up on the second place Athletics, who would be playing the Wild
Card game against the Yankees if the season ended today. Both the Astros and
Athletics are 7-3 in their last 10 and showing no signs of letting up. It’s too
bad Oakland lost their ace Sean Manaea, because this team is showing some true
grit. They do have the bullpen to make up for the starting rotation though, so
if they can get past the Yankees in the Wild Card, they could make some noise.
* Disclaimer - Houston is winning the season series vs. Oakland 12-7 *

Things
are a little tighter in the NL, with two divisions still up for grabs and a
Wild Card race that includes three teams bunched at the top. Atlanta has the
biggest lead at 6.5 over the Phillies out East, with the ever-disappointing
Nationals 7.5 back. I am interested to see what happens to Harper this
offseason.
National Sports
Service - MLB Futures Betting, What to Look For
The
NL Central is always one of the best in baseball, and this year has been no
different with the Cubs up 2.5 up on the Brewers and 5 and a half up on the
Cardinals. The Cardinals have endured through a season that saw their manager
fired only to make a run with great starting pitching and clutch batting.
The
closest division is in the West where the Dodgers hold a slim half game lead
over the Rockies and 5 over the Dbacks. This has been a tight division for a
couple of years and if either team can go on a winning streak, all three of
these could make a run in the postseason.
The
NL Wild Card race could provide some drama down the stretch. The Brewers are on
top, 3 games up on the Cardinals with the Rockies nipping at their ankles just
a half game back. The Diamondbacks are still in the race at 5 back, with the
Phillies 6 back and the Pirates and Nationals 7 back.

World Series futures proves a ton of value at this time of the year if you
follow baseball and you know the vibe around teams leading into the playoffs.
Have they been winning, are they healthy or is there any other long-term factor
that could affect their play?

corner. The Sox and Astros are looking good, but if that Yankee lineup can get
