Game 2
Recap: Points Galore
The top
seed in the West could not afford to lose two games at home to start the
series, and luckily Utah avoided that fate. In a high-scoring affair, Utah
handled business, scoring 141 points and covering a 10-point spread.
Mitchell,
in his first game since April 16, paced the victors with 25 points and five
threes. Every Jazz starter scored over 14 points. Rudy Gobert scored 21 and
hauled in 13 rebounds while Mike Conley scored 20 to go along with 15 assists.
In total,
seven Utah players hit double digits in an explosive evening.
Ja Morant
continued his strong postseason play, pouring in 47 points on 58% shooting.
Dillon Brooks also built on his strong Game 1 performance, scoring 23 points on
10 of 14 shooting.

Game 1
Recap: Momentum Carries Memphis
Memphis,
perhaps off the momentum of the play-in tournament, stole Game 1 as the #8
seed, winning 112-109.
Brooks
scored 31 to lead the Grizzlies, with Morant adding 26 of his own.
Sans
Mitchell, the Utah scoring was headed up by Bojan Bogdanovic’s 33 points.
Gobert and Conley each had double-doubles, just as they did in Game 2.
Utah’s
downfall in Game 1 was their uncharacteristic three-point performance. As we’ll
get to, no team is stronger from deep than the Jazz this season. In Game 1, they
shot just 12-47 from deep.

Game 3
Betting Preview
As we
prepare for Game 3 between the Jazz and Grizzlies, the first place to focus our
betting picks is on points.
As
mentioned above, the over has hit in both games so far. There’s good reason to
continue pursuing the overs in this series. America’s
Bookie offers some of the best odds around.
Utah is
number one in the NBA in three-point offense while Memphis’s perimeter defense
ranks a below-average 17th.
For the
Grizzlies, they are the top team in the league in scoring points in the paint.
Defending the interior shot is the Jazz’s one defensive weakness, ranked 22nd
in the NBA.
Game 3
Betting Pick
Seeing
such a pure unison between dominant offenses in one facet against defensive
weaknesses is exactly what we hope for in betting an over.
Both
advantages also play into the star players for each team’s preferred scoring
style. Beyond betting overs, take Ja Morant and Donovan Mitchell’s player prop
overs for points.
As for a
pick against the spread, Utah remains the stronger team. Third on both ends of
the floor, there aren’t many teams with the balance the Jazz have.
This has
been an exciting series so far, with the next generation of NBA talent on full
display. The preferred bet remains the over, along with the Jazz to cover and
win Game 3.
